Milton Gatehouse
Milton Gatehouse
The first time I moved to Milton, Massachusetts was in 2000. The first time I drove by this gatehouse, on Canton Avenue, I pulled over to gape. The second time I drove by, I pulled over to gape. Twelve years later, I still pull over to gape. It is captivatingly gorgeous. And when I saw a picture of in Money Magazine’s article touting Milton as the #2 best town to live in (in the country!), I thought, “I need to paint that!” So, I did.
The gatehouse is actually the “humble” entry point to the William Ellery Channing Eustis Estate, an 80-acre estate featuring features a 21,000-square-foot main house and abutting the Blue Hills Reservation.
