About the Artist
Melissa reawakened her childhood dream off being an artist in 2001 after participating in Adult Education painting classes with Boston artist Anthony Riccardi. Not known for her ability to sit still, she began painting as a means to calm her mind and escape to a magical world of whimsy, color, and fun. Using both acrylic and watercolors, she became addicted to the ability it gave her to not only express, but to relax.
Now a mother of two little girls, Melissa squeezes in one-hour painting sessions almost nightly and is currently illustrating a children's book for author Karen Boes Oman.
In addition to painting and photography, she enjoys traveling, gardening, exercising, burying her head in a good book, and spending time with her family.
